Sustainability

Here at Cedar Trellis Co sustainability isn’t just a buzzword or an afterthought, it’s ingrained in every step of our sourcing and production process.

We understand the delicate balance between providing the most striking, high-quality products, and working to preserve our planet for future generations.

This commitment starts with our choice of natural materials. We exclusively use Canadian Western Red Cedar for our trellises, which we source from responsibly managed and PEFC-certified forests.

The natural properties of Cedar also add to its lengthy sustainability credentials. The fast-growing, hardy nature of Cedar trees make them a highly renewable material, while the durable, rot and pest-resistant benefits of this timber enable it to outlast other woods, increasing the lifespan of our products.

Why Cedar?

When it comes to our manufacturing process, within our north London workshop we’ve implemented eco-friendly practices such as installing LED lighting, using smaller, lower-energy machinery and we’re working towards being able to offer fully plastic-free packaging – both for the finished products we send out to our clients and the materials we receive in from our suppliers.

We have also carefully designed our trellis products, so that we operate at 98% efficiency in terms of our raw material use, meaning we create virtually no timber waste.

But we fully appreciate that you can never stand still when it comes to improving a business’ sustainability credentials, and we will continue to work to increase efficiencies and reduce our carbon footprint as a business. We look forward to being able to announce more progress on this in the near future.
